dvādaśōdhyāya:
bhaktiyōganiṣṭhānāṃ prāpyabhūtasya parasya brahmaṇō bhagavatō nārāyaṇasya niraṅkuśaiśvararyaṃ sākṣātkartukāmāyārjunāya anavadhikātiśayakāruṇyāudāryasauśīlyādiguṇasāgarēṇa satyasaṃkalpēna bhagavatā svaiśvaryaṃ yathāvadavasthitaṃ darśitam uktaṃ ca tattvatō bhagavajjñānadarśanaprāptīnāmaikāntika-ātyantika-bhagavadbhaktyēkalabhyatvam . ananataramātmaprāptisādhanabhūtādatmōpāsanādbhaktirūpasya bhagavadupāsanasya svasādhyaniṣpādanē śaighryātsusukhōpādānatvācca śraiṣṭhyam, bhagavadupāsanōpāyaśca, tadaśaktasyākṣaraniṣṭhatā, tadapēkṣitāścōcyantē . bhagavadupāsanasya prāpyabhūtōpāsyaśraiṣṭhyācśraiṣṭhyaṃ tu, yōgināmapi sarvēṣāṃ madgatēnāntarātmanā . śraddhāvān bhajatē yō māṃ sa mē yuktatamō mata: (6.47) . ityatrōktam .
ēvaṃ satatayuktā yē bhaktāstvāṃ paryupāsatē .
yē cāpyakṣaramavyaktaṃ tēṣāṃ kē yōgavittamā: . 1 .
ēvam matkarmakṛt (11.55) ityādinōktēna prakārēṇa, satatayuktā: bhagavantaṃ tvāmēva paraṃ prāpyaṃ manvānā: yē bhaktā:, tvāṃ sakalavibhūtiyuktamanavadhikātiśayasaundaryasauśīlyasārvajñya-satyasaṃkalpatvādi anantaguṇasāgaraṃ paripūrṇamupāsatē, yē cāpyakṣaraṃ pratyagātmasvarūpaṃ tadēva ca avyaktaṃ cakṣurādikaraṇānabhivyaktasvarūpamupāsatē tēṣāmubhayēṣāṃ kē yōgavittamā: kē svasādhyaṃ prati śīghragāmina ityartha:, bhavāmi na cirātpārtha (7) iti uttaratra yōgavittamatvaṃ śaighryaviṣayamiti hi vyañjayiṣyatē.1.
śrībhagavānuvāca –
mayyāvēśya manō yē māṃ nityayuktā upāsatē .
śraddhayā parayōpētāstē mē yuktatamā: matā: . 2 .
atyarthamatpriyatvēna manō mayyāvēśya śraddhayā parayōpētā: nityayuktā: nityayōgaṃ kāṅkṣamāṇā: yē māmupāsatē prāpyaviṣayaṃ manō mayyāvēśya yē māmupāsata ityartha: tē yuktatamā: māṃ sukhēnācirāt prāpnuvantītyartha: . 2 .
yē tvakṣaramanirdēśyamavyaktaṃ paryupāsatē .
sarvatragamacintyaṃ ca kūṭasthamacalaṃ dhruvam . 3 .
sanniyamyēndriyagrāmaṃ sarvatra samabuddhaya: .
tē prāpnuvanti māmēva sarvabhūtahitē ratā: . 4 .
klēśōädhikatarastēṣāmavyaktāsaktacētasām .
avyaktā hi gatirdu:khaṃ dēhavadbhiravāpyatē . 5 .
yē tu akṣaraṃ pratyagātmasvarūpam, anirdēśyaṃ dēhādanyatayā dēvādiśabdānirdēśyaṃ tata ēva cakṣurādikaraṇānabhivyaktam, sarvatragamacintyaṃ ca sarvatra dēvādidēhēṣu vartamānamapi tadvisajātīyatayā tēna tēna rūpēṇa cintayitumanarhām, tata ēva kūṭasthaṃ sarvasādhāraṇam tattaddēvādyasādhāraṇākārāsaṃbaddhaṃ ityartha: apariṇāmitvēna svāsādhāraṇākārānna calati na cyavata ityacalam, tata ēva dhruvam, nityam. sanniyāmyēndriyagrāmaṃ cakṣurādikamindriyagrāmaṃ sarvaṃ svavyāpārēbhyassamyaṅniyamya, sarvatra samabuddhaya: sarvatra dēvādiviṣamākārēṣu dēhēṣvavasthitēṣvātmasu jñānaikākāratayā samabuddhaya:, tata ēva sarvabhūtahitē ratā: sarvabhūtāhitarahitatvānnivṛttā: . sarvabhūtāhitarahitatvaṃ hyātmanō dēvādiviṣamākārābhimāna-nimittam . ya ēvamakṣaramupāsatē, tēäpi māṃ prāpnuvantyēva matsamānākāramasaṃsāriṇamātmānaṃ prāpnuvantyēvētyartha: . mama sādharmyamāgatā: (14.2) iti hi vakṣyatē . śrūyatē ca, nirañjana: paramaṃ sāmyamupaiti (mu.1.1.5) iti . tathā akṣaraśabdanirdiṣṭāt kūṭasthādanyatvaṃ parasya brahmaṇō vakṣyatē, kūṭasthōäkṣara ucyatē . uttama: puruṣastvanya: (15.16) iti . atha parā yayā tadakṣaramadhikgamyatē (mu.1.1.5) ityakṣaravidyāyāṃ tu akṣaraśabdanirdiṣṭaṃ paramēva brahma, bhūtayōnitvādē: .tēṣāmavyaktāsaktacētasāṃ klēśastvadhikatara: . avyaktā hi gati: avyaktaviṣayā manōvṛtti: dēhavadbhi: dēhātmābhimānayuktai: du:khēnāvāpyatē . dēhavantō hi dēhamēva ātmānaṃ manyantē . 3-4-5 .
bhagavantamupāsīnānāṃ yuktatamatvaṃ suvyaktamāha –
yē tu sarvāṇi karmāṇi mayi saṃnyasya matparā: .
ananyēnaiva yōgēna māṃ dhyāyanta upāsatē . 6 .
tēṣāmahaṃ samuddhartā mṛtyusaṃsārasāgarāt .
bhavāmi na cirātpārtha mayyāvēśitacētasām . 7 .
yē tu laukikāni dēhayātrāśēṣabhūtāni, dēhadhāraṇārthāni ca aśanādīni karmāṇi, vaidikāni ca yagadānahōmatapa:prabhṛtīni sarvāṇi sakāraṇāni sōddēśyāni adhyātmacētasā mayi saṃnyasya, matparā: madēkaprāpyā:, ananyēnaiva yōgēna ananyaprayōjanēna yōgēna māṃ dhyāyanta upāsatē dhyānārcanapraṇāma-stutikīrtanādīni svayamēvātyarthapriyāṇi prāpyasamāni kurvantō māmupāsata ityartha: . tēṣāṃ matprāptivirōdhitayā mṛtyubhūtātsaṃsārākhyātsāgarādahamacirēṇaiva kālēna samuddhartā bhavāmi . 6 – 7 .
mayyēva mana ādhatsva mayi buddhiṃ nivēśaya .
nivasiṣyasi mayyēva ata ūrdhvaṃ na saṃśaya: . 8 .
atōätiśayitapuruṣārthatvātsulabhatvādaciralabhyatvācca mayyēva mana ādhatsva mayi manassamā-dhānaṃ kuru . mayi buddhiṃ nivēśaya ahamēva paramaprāpya ityadhyavasāyaṃ kuru . ata ūrdhvaṃ mayyēva nivasi-ṣyasi. ahamēva paramaprāpya ityadhyavasāyapūrvakamanōnivēśanānantaramēva mayi nivasiṣyasītyartha: .8.
atha cittaṃ samādhātuṃ na śaknōṣi mayi sthiram .
abhyāsayōgēna tatō māmicchāptuṃ dhanañjaya . 9 .
atha sahasaiva mayi sthiraṃ cittaṃ samādhātuṃ na śaknōṣi, tatōäbhyāsayōgēna māmāptumiccha svābhāvikānavadhikātiśayasaundaryasauśīlyasauhārdavātsalyakāruṇyamādhuryagāmbhīryaudāryaśauryavīrya-parākramasārvajñyasatyakāmatvasatyasaṃkalpatvasarvēśvaratvasakalakāraṇatvādyasaṃkhyēyaguṇasāgarē nikhila-hēyapratyanīkē mayi niratiśayaprēmagarbhasmṛtyabhyāsayōgēna sthiraṃ cittasamādhānaṃ labdhvā māṃ prāptumiccha.9.
abhyāsēäpyasamarthōäsi matkarmaparamō bhava .
madarthamapi karmāṇi kurvan siddhimavāpsyasi . 10 .
athaivaṃvidhasmṛtyabhyāsēäpyasamarthōäsi, matkarmaparamō bhava . madīyāni karmāṇyālayanirmāṇōdyōnakaraṇapradīpārōpaṇamārjanābhyukṣaṇōpalēpanapuṣpāharaṇapūjāpravartananāma-saṃkīrtanapradakṣiṇastutinamaskārādīni tāni atyarthapriyatvēnācara . atyarthapriyatvēna madarthaṃ karmāṇi kurvannapi acirādabhyāsayōgapūrvikāṃ mayi sthirāṃ cittasthitiṃ labdhvā matprāptirūpāṃ siddhimavāpsyasi . 10 .
athaitadapyaśaktōäsi kartuṃ madyōgamāśrita: .
sarvakarmaphalatyāgaṃ tata: kuru yatātmavān . 11 .
atha madyōgamāśrityaitadapi kartuṃ na śaknōṣi madguṇānusandhānakṛtamadēkapriyatvākāraṃ bhaktiyōgamāśritya bhaktiyōgāṅkurarūpamētanmatkarmāpi kartuṃ na śaknōṣi, tatōäkṣarayōgamātmasvabhāvānusandhānarūpaṃ parabhaktijananaṃ pūrvaṣaṭkōditamāśritya tadupāyatayā sarvakarmaphalatyāgaṃ kuru . matpriyatvēna madēkaprāpyatābuddhirhi prakṣīṇāśēṣapāpasyaiva jāyatē . yatātmavān yatamanaska: . tatōänabhisaṃhitaphalēna madārādhanarūpēṇānuṣṭhitēna karmaṇā siddhēnātmadhyānēna nivṛttāvidyādisarvatirōdhānē macchēṣataikasvarūpē pratyagātmani sākṣātkṛtē sati mayi parā bhakti: svayamēvōtpadyatē . tathā ca vakṣyatē, svakarmaṇā tamabhyarcya siddhiṃ vindati mānava: (18.46) ityārabhya, vimucya nirmamaśśāntō brahmabhūyāya kalapatē . brahmabhūta: prasannātmā na śōcati na kāṅkṣati . sama: sarvēṣu bhūtēṣu madbhaktiṃ labhatē parām (54) iti .11 .
śrēyō hi jñānamabhyāsājjñānāddhyānaṃ viśiṣyatē .
dhyānātkarmaphalatyāga: tyāgācchāntiranantaram . 12 .
atyarthaprītivirahitātkarkaśarūpātsmṛtyabhyāsādakṣarayāthātmyānusandhānapūrvakaṃ tadāparōkṣya-jñānamēva ātmahitatvēna viśiṣyatē . ātmāparōkṣyajñānādapyaniṣpannarūpāttadupāyabhūtātma-dhyānamēvātmahitatvē viśiṣyatē. taddhyānādapyaniṣpannarūpāttadupāyabhūtaṃ phalatyāgēnānuṣṭhitaṃ karmaiva viśiṣyatē . anabhisaṃhita-phalādanuṣṭhitātkarmaṇōänantaramēva nirastapāpatayā manasaśśāntirbhaviṣyati śāntē manasi ātmadhyānaṃ saṃpatsyatē dhyānācca tadāparōkṣyam tadāparōkṣyātparā bhakti: iti bhaktiyōgābhyāsāśaktasyātmaniṣṭhaiva śrēyasī . ātmaniṣṭhasyāpi aśāntamanasō niṣṭhāprāptayē antargatātmajñānānabhisaṃhitaphalakarmaniṣṭhaiva śrēyasītyartha: . 12 .
anabhisaṃhitaphalakarmaniṣṭhasyōpādēyān guṇānāha –
advēṣṭā sarvabhūtānāṃ maitra: karuṇa ēva ca .
nirmamō nirahaṅkāra: samadu:khasukha: kṣamī . 13 .
santuṣṭassatataṃ yōgī yatātmā dṛḍhaniścaya: .
mayyarpitamanōbuddhiryō madbhakta: sa mē priya: . 14 .
advēṣṭā sarvabhūtānām (13) vidviṣatāmapakurvatāmapi sarvēṣāṃ bhūtānāmadvēṣṭā madaparādhānuguṇamīśvara-prēritānyētāni bhūtāni dviṣantyapakurvanti cētyanusandadhāna: tēṣu dviṣatsu apkurvatsu ca sarvabhūtēṣu maitrīṃ matiṃ kurvanmaitra:, tēṣvēva du:khitēṣu karuṇāṃ kurvan karuṇa:, nirmama: dēhēndriyēṣu tatsaṃbandhiṣu ca nirmama:, nirahaṅkāra: dēhātmābhimānarahita:, tata ēva samadu:khasukha: sukhadu:khāgamayō: sāṅkalpikayō: harṣōdvēgarahita:, kṣamī sparśaprabhavayōravarjanīyayōrapi tayōrvikārarahita:, saṃtuṣṭa: yadṛcchōpanatēna yēna kēnāpi dēhadhāraṇadravyēṇa saṃtuṣṭa:, satataṃ yōgī satataṃ prakṛtiviyuktātmānusandhāna-para:, yatātmā niyamitamanōvṛtti:, dṛḍhaniścaya: adhyātmaśāstrōditēṣvarthēṣu dṛḍhaniścaya:, mayyarpitamanōbuddhi: bhagavān vāsēdēva ēvānabhisaṃhitaphalēnānuṣṭhitēna karmaṇā ārādhyatē, ārādhitaśca mama ātmāparōkṣyaṃ sādhayiṣyatīti mayyarpitamanōbuddhi:, ya ēvaṃbhūtō madbhakta: ēvaṃ karmayōgēnā māṃ bhajamānō ya:, sa mē priya: . 13 – 14.
yasmānnōdvijatē lōkō lōkānnōdvijatē ca ya: .
harṣāmarṣabhayōdvēgairmuktō ya: sa ca mē priya: . 15 .
yasmātkarmaniṣṭhātpuruṣānnimittabhūtāllōkō nōdvijatē yō lōkōdvēgakaraṃ karma kiñcidapi na karōtītyartha: . lōkācca nimittabhūtādyō nōdvijatē yamuddiśya sarvalōkō nōdvēgakaraṃ karma karōti sarvāvirōdhitvaniścayāt . ata ēva kañcana prati harṣēṇa, kañcana prati amarṣēṇa, kañcana prati bhayēna, kañcana prati udvēgēna mukta: ēvaṃbhūtō ya:, sōäpi mama priya: . 15 .
anapēkṣa: śucirdakṣa udāsīnō gatavyatha: .
sarvārambhaparityāgī yō madbhakta: sa mē priya: . 16 .
anapēkṣa: ātmavyatiriktē kṛtsnē vastunyanapēkṣa:, śuci: śāstravihitadravyavardhitakāya:, dakṣa: śāstrīyakriyōpādānasamartha:, anyatrōdāsīna:, ganavyatha: śāstrīyakriyānirvṛttau avarjanīyaśītōṣṇapuruṣa-sparśādidu:khēṣu vyathārahita:, sarvārambhaparityāgī śāstrīyavyatirikta-sarvakarmārambhaparityāgī, ya ēvaṃbhūtō madbhakta:, sa mē priya: .16.
yō na hṛṣyati na dvēṣṭi na śōcati na kāṅkṣati .
śubhāśubhaparityāgī bhaktimān ya: sa mē priya: .17 .
yō na hṛṣyati yanmanuṣyāṇāṃ harṣanimittaṃ priyajātam, tatprāpya ya: karmayōgī na hṛṣyati yaccāpriyam, tatprāpya na dvēṣṭi yacca manuṣyāṇāṃ śōkanimittaṃ bhāryāputravittakṣayādikam, tatprāpya na śōcati tathāvidhamaprāptaṃ ca na kāṅkṣati śubhāśubhaparityāgī pāpavatpuṇyasyāpi bandhahētutvāviśēṣāt ubhayaparityāgī . ya ēvaṃbhūtō bhaktimān, sa mē priya: . 17 .
samaśśatrau ca mitrē ca tathā mānāvamānayō: .
śītōṣṇasukhadu:khēṣu sama: saṅgavivarjita: . 18 .
tulyanindāstutirmaunī saṃtuṣṭō yēna kēnacit .
anikēta: sthiramatirbhaktimānmē priyō nara: . 19 .
advēṣṭā sarvabhūtānām ityādinā śatrumitrādiṣu dvēṣādirahitatvamuktam atra tēṣu sannihitēṣvapi samacittatvaṃ tatōäpyatiriktō viśēṣa ucyatē . ātmani sthiramatitvēna nikētanādiṣvasakta ityanikēta: tata ēva mānāvamānādiṣvapi sama: ya ēvaṃbhūtō bhaktimān, sa mē priya: . 18 – 19 .
asmādātmaniṣṭhādbhaktiyōganiṣṭhasya śraiṣṭhyaṃ pratipādayan yathōpakramamupasaṃharati –
yē tu dharmyāmṛtamidaṃ yathōktaṃ paryupāsatē .
śraddadhānā matparamā bhaktāstēätīva mē priyā: . 20 .
iti śrīmadbhagavadgītāsūpaniṣatsu …….bhaktiyōgō nāma dvādaśōädhyāya: . 12.
dharmyaṃ cāmṛtaṃ cēti dharmyāmṛtam, yē tu prāpyasamaṃ prāpakaṃ bhaktiyōgam, yathōktam mayyāvēśya manō yē mām ityādinōktēna prakārēṇa upāsatē tē bhaktā: atitarāṃ mama priyā:.20.
