ṣaṣṭhōädhyāya:

 

śrībhagavānuvāca

anāśrita: karmaphalaṃ kāryaṃ karma karōti ya:  .

sa saṃnyasī ca yōgī ca na niragnirna cākriya:  . 1 .

ukta: karmayōga: saparikara:, idānīṃ jñānayōgakarmayōgasādhyātmāvalōkanarūpayōgābhyāsa-vidhirucyatē. tatra karmayōgasya nirapēkṣayōgasādhanatvaṃ draḍhayituṃ jñānākāra: karmayōgō yōgaśiraskaḥ anūdyatē . karmaphalaṃ svargādikamanāśrita:, kāryaṃ karmānuṣṭhānamēva kāryam, sarvātmanāsmatsuhṛdbhūta-paramapuruṣārādhanarūpatayā karmaiva mama prayōjanam, na tatsādhyaṃ kiṃciditi ya: karma karōti sa saṃnyāsī ca jñānayōganiṣṭhaśca yōgī ca karmayōganiṣṭhaśca ātmāvalōkanarūpayōgasādhanabhūtōbhayaniṣṭha ityartha: . na niragnirna cākriya: na cōditayajñādikarmasvapravṛtta:, na ca kēvalajñānaniṣṭha: . tasya hi jñananiṣṭhaiva, karmayōganiṣṭhasya tūbhayamastītyabhiprāya: . 1 .

uktalakṣaṇakarmayōgē jñānamapyastītyāha –

yaṃ saṃnyāsa iti prāhuryōgaṃ taṃ viddhi pāṇḍava  .

na hyasaṃnyastasaṅkalpō yōgī bhavati kaścana  . 2 .

yaṃ saṃnyāsa iti jñānayōga iti, ātmayāthātmyajñānamiti prāhu:, taṃ karmayōgamēva viddhi . tadupapādayati na hyasaṃnyastasaṃkalpō yōgī bhavati kaścana . ātmayāthātmyānusandhānēna anātmani prakṛtau ātmasaṅkalpa: saṃnyasta: parityaktō yēna sa saṃnyastasaṅkalpa: anēvaṃbhūta: asaṃnyastasaṅkalpa:. na hyuktēṣu karmayōgiṣvanēvaṃbhūta: kaścana karmayōgī bhavati . yasya sarvē samārambhā: kāmasaṅkalpavarjitā: (bha.gī.4.19) iti hyuktam . 2 . karmayōga ēvāpramādēna yōgaṃ sādhayatītyāha –

ārurukṣōrmunēryōgaṃ karma kāraṇamucyatē  .

yōgārūḍhasya tasyaiva śama: kāraṇamucyatē            . 3 .

yōgamātmāvalōkanaṃ prāptumicchōrmumukṣō: karmayōga ēva kāraṇamucyatē . tasyaiva yōgārūḍhasya pratiṣṭhitayōgasyaiva, śama: karmanivṛtti: kāraṇamucyatē . yāvadātmāvalōkanarūpamōkṣāvāpti karma kāryamityartha: . 3 .

kadā pratiṣṭhitayōgō bhavatītyatrāha –

yadā hi nēndriyārthēṣu na karmasvanuṣajjatē  .

sarvasaṅkalpasaṃnyāsī yōgārūḍhastadōcyatē     . 4 .

yadāyaṃ yōgī tvātmaikānubhavasvabhāvatayā indriyārthēṣu  ātmavyatiriktaprākṛtaviṣayēṣu, tatsaṃbandhiṣu ca karmasu nānuṣajjatē na saṅgamarhāti, tadā hi sarvasaṅkalpasannyāsī yōgārūḍha ityucyatē. tasmādārurukṣōrviṣayānubhavārhātayā tadananuṣaṅgābhyāsarūpa: karmayōga ēva yōganiṣpatti-kāraṇam . atō viṣayānanuṣaṅgābhyāsarūpaṃ karmayōgamēva ārurukṣu: kuryāt . 4 .

tadēvāha –

uddharēdātmanātmānaṃ nātmānamavasādayēt .

ātmaiva hyātmanō bandhurātmaiva ripurātmana:  . 5 .

ātmanā manasā viṣayānanuṣaktēna ātmānamuddharēt . tadviparītēna manasā ātmānaṃ nāvasādayēt. ātmaiva mana ēva hyātmanō bandhu: tadēvātmanō ripu: . 5 .

bandhurātmātmanastasya yēnātmaivātmanā jita:  .

anātmanastu śatrutvē vartētātmaiva śatruvat           . 6 .

yēna puruṣēṇa svēnaiva svamanō viṣayēbhyō jitam, tanmanastasya bandhu: . anātmana: ajitamanasa: svakīyamēva mana: svasya śatruvacśatrutvē vartēta  svaniśśrēyasaviparītē vartētētyartha: . yathōktaṃ bhagavatā parāśarēṇāpi, mana ēva manuṣyāṇāṃ kāraṇaṃ bandhamōkṣayō: . bandhāya viṣayāsaṅgi muktyaiva nirviṣayaṃ mana: . (vi.6.7.28) iti  .6.

yōgārambhayōgyā avasthōcyatē –

jitātmana: praśāntasya paramātmā samāhita:  .

śītōṣṇasukhadu:khēṣu tathā mānāvamānayō:      . 7 .

śītōṣṇasukhadu:khēṣu mānāvamānayōśca jitātmana: jitamanasa: vikārarahitamanasa: praśāntasya manasi paramātmā samāhita: samyagāhita: . svarūpēṇāvasthita: pratyagātmātra paramātmētyucyatē tasyaiva prakṛtatvāt . tasyāpi pūrvapūrvāvasthāpēkṣayā paramātmatvāt . ātmā paraṃ samāhita iti vānvaya: .7.

jñānavijñānatṛptātmā kūṭasthō vijitēndriya:  .

yukta ityucyatē yōgī samalōṣṭāśmakāñcana:       . 8 .

jñānavijñānatṛptātmā ātmasvarūpaviṣayēṇa jñānēna, tasya ca prakṛtivisajātīyākāraviṣayēṇa jñānēna ca tṛptamanā: kūṭastha: dēvādyavasthāsvanuvartamānasarvasādhāraṇajñānaikākārātmani sthita:, tata ēva vijitēndriya:, samalōṣṭāśmakāñcana: prakṛtiviviktasvarūpaniṣṭhatayā prākṛtavastuviśēṣēṣu bhōgyatvābhāvāllōṣṭāśmakāñcanēṣu samaprayōjana: ya: karmayōgī, sa yukta ityucyatē ātmāvalōkana-rūpayōgābhyāsārhā ityucyatē . 8 .

tathā ca –

suhṛnmitrāryudāsīnamadhyasthadvēṣyabandhuṣu  .

sādhuṣvapi ca pāpēṣu samabuddhirviśiṣyatē           . 9 .

vayōviśēṣānaṅgīkārēṇa svahitaiṣiṇa: suhṛda: savayasō hitaiṣiṇō mitrāṇi, arayō nimittatōänarthēcchava: ubhayahētvabhāvādubhayarahitā udāsīnā: janmata ēvōbhayarahitā madhyasthā: janmata ēvānicchēcchavō dvēṣyā: janmata ēva hitaiṣiṇō bandhava:, sādhavō dharmaśīlā: pāpā: pāpaśīlā: ātmaikaprayōjanatayā suhṛnmitrādibhi: prayōjanābhāvādvirōdhābhāvācca tēṣu samabuddhiryōgābhyāsārhātvē viśiṣyatē . 9 .

yōgī yuñjīta satatamātmānaṃ rahasi sthita:  .

ēkākī yatacittātmā nirāśīraparigraha:             . 10  .

yōgī uktaprakārakarmayōganiṣṭha:, satatamaharaharyōgakālē ātmānaṃ yuñjīta ātmānaṃ yuktaṃ kurvīta. svadarśananiṣṭhaṃ kurvītētyartha: rahasi janavarjitē niśśabdē dēśē sthita:, ēkākī tatrāpi na sadvitīya:, yatacittātmā yatacittamanaska:, nirāśī: ātmavyatiriktē kṛtsnē vastuni nirapēkṣa: aparigraha: tadvyatiriktē kasmiṃścidapi mamatārahita: .  .

śucau dēśē pratiṣṭhāpya sthiramāsanamātmana:  .

nātyucchritaṃ nātinīcaṃ cēlājinakuśōttaram    . 11 .

tatraikāgraṃ mana: kṛtvā yatacittēndriyakriya:  .

upaviśyāsanē yuñjyādyōgamātmaviśuddhayē  . 12 .

śucau dēśē aśucibhi: puruṣairanadhiṣṭhitē aparigṛhītē ca aśucibhirvastubhiraspṛṣṭē ca pavitrabhūtē dēśē, dārvādinirmitaṃ nātyucchritaṃ nātinīcaṃ cēlājinakuśōttaramāsanaṃ pratiṣṭhāpya tasminmana:prasādakarē sāpāśrayē upaviśya yōgaikāgraṃ mana: kṛtvā yatacittēndriyakriya: sarvātmanōpasaṃhṛtacittēndriyakriya: ātmaviśuddhayē bandhanivṛttayē yōgaṃ yuñjyādatmāvalōkanaṃ kurvīta . 11 – 12.

samaṃ kāyaśirōgrīvaṃ dhārayanacalaṃ sthiram  .

saṃprēkṣya nāsikāgraṃ svaṃ dēśaścānavalōkayan  . 13 .

praśāntātmā vigatabhī: brahmacārivratē sthita:  .

mana: saṃyamya maccittō yukta āsīta matpara:       . 14 .

kāyaśirōgrīvaṃ samamacalaṃ sāpāśrayatayā sthiraṃ dhārayan, diśaścānavalōakayan, svanāsikāgraṃ saṃprēkṣya, praśāntātmā atyantanirvṛtamanā:, vigatabhīrbrahmacaryayuktō mana: saṃyamya maccittō yukta: avahitō matpara āsīta māmēva cintyanāsīta . 13-14.

yuñjannēvaṃ sadātmānaṃ yōgī niyatamānasa:  .

śāntiṃ nirvāṇaparamāṃ matsaṃsthāmadhigacchati  . 15 .

ēvaṃ mayi parasmin brahmaṇi puruṣōttamē manasaśśubhāśrayē sadā ātmānaṃ mana: yuñjanniyatamānasa: matsparśavitrīkṛtamānasatayā niścalamānasa:, māmēva cintayanmatsaṃsthāṃ nirvāṇa-paramāṃ śāntimadhigacchati nirvāṇakāṣṭhārūpāṃ matsaṃsthāṃ mayi saṃsthitāṃ śāntimadhigacchati .15 .

ēvamātmayōgamārabhamāṇasya manōnairmalyahētubhūtāṃ manasō bhagavati śubhāśrayē sthitimabhidhāya anyadapi yōgōpakaraṇamāha –

nātyaśnatastu yōgōästi na caikāntamanaśnata:  .

na cātisvapnaśīlasya jāgratō naiva cārjuna  . 16 .

yuktāhāravihārasya yuktacēṣṭasya karmasu  .

yuktasvapnāvabōdhasya yōgō bhavati du:khahā    . 17 .

atyaśanānaśanē yōgavirōdhinī ativihārāvihārau ca tathātimātrasvapnajāgaryē tathā cātyāyāsānāyāsau . mitāhāravihārasya mitāyāsasya mitasvapnāvabōdhasya sakaladu:khahā bandhanāśana: yōga: saṃpannō bhavati . 16-17.

yadā viniyataṃ cittamātmanyēvāvatiṣṭhatē  .

nisspṛha: sarvakāmēbhyō yukta ityucyatē tadā       . 18 .

yadā prayōjanaviṣayaṃ cittamātmanyēva viniyatam  viśēṣēṇa niyataṃ niratiśayaprayōjanatayā tatraiva niyataṃ niścalamavatiṣṭhatē, tadā sarvakāmēbhyō nisspṛhassan yukta ityucyatē yōgārhā ityucyatē .18.

yathā dīpō nivātasthō nēṅgatē sōpamā smṛtā  .

yōginō yatacittasya yuñjatō yōgamātmana:  . 19 .

nivātasthō dīpō yathā nēṅgatē na calati acalassaprabhastiṣṭhati yatacittasya nivṛttasakalētaramanōvṛttē: yōgina: ātmani yōgaṃ yuñjata: ātmasvarūpasya sōpamā nivātasthatayā niścalasaprabhadīpavannivṛttasakalamanōvṛttitayā niścalō jñānaprabha ātmā tiṣṭhatītyartha: . 19 .

yatrōparamatē cittaṃ niruddhaṃ yōgasēvayā .

yatra caivātmanātmānaṃ paśyanātmani tuṣyati   . 20 .

sukhamātyantikaṃ yattadbuddhigrāhyamatīndriyam  .

vētti yatra na caivāyaṃ sthitaścalati tattvata:    . 21 .

yaṃ labdhvā cāparaṃ lābhaṃ manyatē nādhikaṃ tata:  .

yasmin sthitō na du:khēna guruṇāpi vicālyatē      .22.

taṃ vidyāddu:khasaṃyōgaviyōgaṃ yōgasaṃjñitam  .

sa niścayēna yōktavyō yōgōänirviṇṇacētasā       . 23 .

yōgasēvayā hētunā sarvatra niruddhaṃ cittaṃ yatra yōgē uparamatē atiśayitasukhamidamiti ramatē, yatra ca yōgē ātmanā manasā ātmānaṃ paśyannanyanirapēkṣamātmanyēva tuṣyati, yattadatīndriyamātmabuddhyēka-grāhyaṃ ātyantikaṃ sukhaṃ yatra ca yōgē vētti anubhavati, yatra ca yōgē sthita: sukhātirēkēṇa tattvata: tadbhāvānna calati, yaṃ yōgaṃ labdhvā yōgādviratastamēva kāṅkṣamāṇō nāparaṃ lābhaṃ tatōädhikaṃ manyatē, yasmiṃśca yōgē sthitō viratōäpi guṇavatputraviyōgādinā guruṇāpi du:khēna na vicālyatē, taṃ du:khasaṃyōgaviyōgaṃ du:khasaṃyōgapratyanīkākāraṃ yōgaśabdābhidhēyaṃ vidyāt . sa ēvaṃrūpō yōga iti ārambhadaśāyāṃ niścayēna anirviṇṇacētasā hṛṣṭacētasā yōgō yōktavya: . 20 – 23 .

saṅkalpaprabhavān kāmāṃstyaktvā sarvānaśēṣata:  .

manasaivēndriyagrāmaṃ viniyamya samantata:      . 24 .

śanaiśśanairuparamēdbuddhyā dhṛtigṛhītayā  .

ātmasaṃsthaṃ mana: kṛtvā na kiṃcidapi cintayēt     . 25 .

sparśajā: saṅkalpajāścēti dvividhā: kāmā:, sparśajā: śītōṣṇādaya:, saṅkalpajā: putrakṣētrādaya:. tatra saṅkalpaprabhavā: svarūpēṇaiva tyaktuṃ śakyā: . tān sarvānmanasaiva tadanvayānusandhānēna tyaktvā sparśajēṣvavarjanīyēṣu tannimittaharṣōdvēgau tyaktvā samantata: sarvasmādviṣayātsarvamindriyagrāmaṃ viniyamya śanaiśśanairdhṛtigṛhītayā vivēkaviṣayayā buddhyā sarvasmādātmavyatiriktāduparamya ātmasaṃsthaṃ mana: kṛtvā na kiñcidapi cintayēt.24-25.

yatō yatō niścarati manaścañcalamasthiram  .

tatastatō niyamyaitadātmanyēva vaśaṃ nayēt    . 26 .

calasvabhāvatayātmanyasthiraṃ mana: yatō yatō viṣayaprāvaṇyahētō: bahi: niścarati, tatastatō yatnēna manō niyamya ātmanyēva atiśayitasukhabhāvanayā vaśaṃ nayēt . 26 .

praśāntamanasaṃ hyēnaṃ yōginaṃ sukhamuttamam  .

upaiti śāntarajasaṃ brahmabhūtamakalmaṣam            . 27 .

praśāntamanasamātmani niścalamanasam, ātmanyastamanasaṃ tadēva hētōrdagdhāśēṣakalmaṣam, tata ēva śāntarajasaṃ  vinaṣṭarajōguṇam, tata ēva brahmabhūtaṃ svasvarūpēṇāvasthitamēnaṃ yōginamātmasvarūpā-nubhavarūpamuttamaṃ sukhamupaiti . hīti hētau uttamasukharūpatvādātmasvarūpasyētyartha: . 27 .

ēvaṃ yuñjan sadātmānaṃ yōgī vigatakalmaṣa:  .

sukhēna brahmasaṃsparśamatyantaṃ sukhamaśnutē      . 28 .

ēvamuktaprakārēṇātmānaṃ yuñjan tēnaiva vigataprācīnasamastakalmaṣō brahmasaṃsparśaṃ brahmānubhavarūpaṃ sukhamatyantamaparimitaṃ sukhēna anāyāsēna sadāśunutē . 28 .

atha yōgavipākadaśā catuṣprakārōcyatē-

sarvabhūtasthamātmānaṃ sarvabhūtāni cātmani  .

īkṣatē yōgayuktātmā sarvatra samadarśana:             . 29 .

svātmana: parēṣāṃ ca bhūtānāṃ prakṛtiviyuktasvarūpāṇāṃ jñānaikākāratayā sāmyādvaiṣamyasya ca prakṛtigatatvādyōgayuktātmā prakṛtiviyuktēṣvātmasu sarvatra jñānaikākāratayā samadarśana: sarvabhūtasthaṃ svātmānaṃ sarvabhūtāni ca svātmanīkṣatē  sarvabhūtasamānākāraṃ svātmānaṃ svātmasamānākārāṇi ca sarvabhūtāni paśyatītyartha: . ēkasminātmani dṛṣṭē sarvasyātmavastunastatsāmyātsarvamātmavastu dṛṣṭaṃ bhavatītyartha: . ‘sarvatra samadarśana:‘ iti vacanāt . yōäyaṃ yōgastvayā prōkta: sāmyēna (33) ityanubhāṣaṇācca . nirdōṣaṃ hi samaṃ brahma (bha.gī.5.19) iti vacanācca . 29 .

yō māṃ paśyati sarvatra sarvaṃ ca mayi paśyati  .

tasyāhaṃ na praṇaśyāmi sa ca mē na praṇaśyati       . 30 .

tatōäpi vipākadaśāpannō mama sādharmyamupāgata:, nirañjana: paramaṃ sāmyamupaiti (mu.3.1.3) ityucyamānaṃ sarvasyātmavastunō vidhūtapuṇyapāpasya svarūpēṇāvasthitasya matsāmyaṃ paśyan ya: sarvatrātmavastuni māṃ paśyati, sarvamātmavastu ca mayi paśyati anyōnyasāmyādanyataradarśanēna anyataradapīdṛśamiti paśyati, tasya svātmasvarūpaṃ paśyatōähaṃ tatsāmyānna praṇaśyāmi nādarśanamupayāmi mamāpi māṃ paśyata:, matsāmyātsvātmānaṃ matsamamavalōkayan sa nādarśanamupayāti . 30 . tatōäpi vipākadaśāmāha –

sarvabhūtasthitaṃ yō māṃ bhajatyēkatvamāsthita:  .

sarvathā vartamānōäpi sa yōgī mayi vartatē    . 31 .

yōgadaśāyāṃ sarvabhūtasthitaṃ māmasaṃkucitajñānaikākāratayā ēkatvamāsthita: prākṛtabhēdapari-tyāgēna sudṛḍhaṃ yō bhajatē, sa yōgī vyutthānakālēäpi yathā tathā vartamāna: svātmānaṃ sarvabhūtāni ca paśyanmayi vartatē māmēva paśyati . svātmani sarvabhūtēṣu ca sarvadā matsāmyamēva paśyatītyartha: . 31 .

tatōäpi kāṣṭhāmāha –

ātmaupamyēna sarvatra samaṃ paśyati yōärjuna  .

sukhaṃ vā yadi vā du:khaṃ sa yōgī paramō mata:              . 32 .

svātmanaścānyēṣāṃ cātmanāmasaṃkucitajñānaikākāratayōpamyēna svātmani cānyēṣu ca sarvatra vartamānaṃ putrajanmādirūpaṃ sukhaṃ tanmaraṇādirūpaṃ ca du:khamasaṃbandhasāmyātsamaṃ ya: paśyati paraputrajanmamaraṇādisamaṃ svaputrajanmamaraṇādikaṃ ya: paśyatītyartha: . sa yōgī paramō mata: yōgakāṣṭhāṃ gatō mata: . 32 .

arjuna uvāca

yōäyaṃ yōgastvayā prōkta: sāmyēna madhusūdana .

ētasyāhaṃ na paśyāmi cañcalatvātsthitiṃ sthirām    . 33 .

cañcalaṃ hi mana: kṛṣṇa pramāthi balavaddṛḍham  .

tasyāhaṃ nigrahaṃ manyē vāyōriva suduṣkaram          . 34 .

yōäyaṃ dēvamanuṣyādibhēdēna jīvēśvarabhēdēna cātyatabhinnatayaitāvantaṃ kālamanubhūtēṣu sarvēṣvātmasu jñānaikākāratayā parasparasāmyēna akarmavaśyatayā cēśvarasāmyēna sarvatra samadarśanarūpō yōgastvayā prōkta:, ētasya yōgasya sthirāṃ sthitiṃ na paśyāmi, manasaścañcalatvāt . tathā anavaratābhyastaviṣayēṣvapi svata ēva cañcalaṃ puruṣēṇaikatrāvasthāpayitumaśakyaṃ mana: puruṣaṃ balātpramathya dṛḍhamanyatra carati tasya svābhyastaviṣayēṣvapi cañcalasvabhāvasya manasastadviparītākārātmani sthāpayituṃ nigrahaṃ pratikūlagatērmahāvātasya vyajanādinaiva suduṣkaramahaṃ manyē . manōnigrahōpāyō vaktavya ityabhiprāya: . 33 .34.

śrībhagavānuvāca

asaṃśayaṃ mahābāhō manō durnigrahaṃ calam  .

abhyāsēna tu kauntēya vairāgyēṇa ca gṛhyatē  . 35 .

asaṃyatātmanā yōgō duṣprāpa iti mē mati:  .

vaśyātmanā tu yatatā śakyōävāptumupāyata:  . 36 .

calasvabhāvatayā manō durnigrahamēvētyatra na saṃśaya: tathā aapyātmanō guṇākaratvābhyāsa-janitābhimukhyēna ātmavyatiriktēṣu dōṣākaratvajanitavaitṛṣṇyēna ca kathaṃcidgṛhyatē asaṃyatātmanā ajitamanasā mahatāpi balēna yōgō duṣprāpa ēa . upāyatastu vaśyātmanā pūrvōktēna madārādhanarūpēṇāntargatajñānēna karmaṇā jitamanasā yatamānēnāyamēva samadarśanarūpō yōgōävāptuṃ śakya: . 35 – 36.

atha nēhābhikramanāśōästi (bha.gī.2.40) iti ādāvēva śrutaṃ yōgamāhātmyaṃ yathāvacchrōtumarjuna: pṛcchati . antargatātmajñānatayā yōgaśiraskatayā ca hi karmayōgasya māhātmyaṃ tatrōditam tacca yōgamāhātmyamēva.

arjuna uvāca

ayati: śraddhayōpētō yōgāccalitamānasa:  .

aprāpya yōgasaṃsiddhiṃ kāṃ gatiṃ kṛṣṇa gacchati      . 37 .

kaccinnōbhayavibhraṣṭaśchinnābhramiva naśyati  .

apratiṣṭhō mahābāhō vimūḍhō brahmaṇa: pathi    . 38 .

ētaṃ mē saṃśayaṃ kṛṣṇa cchētumarhāsyaśēṣata:  .

tvadanya: saṃśayasyāsya cchēttā na hyupapadyatē       . 39 .

śraddhayā yōgē pravṛttō dṛḍhatarābhyāsarūpayatanavaikalyēna yōgasaṃsiddhimaprāpya yōgāccalita-mānasa: kāṃ gatiṃ gacchati ubhayavibhraṣṭōäyaṃ cchinnābhramiva kaccinna naśyati? yathā mēghaśakala: pūrvasmādbṛhatō mēghācchinna: paraṃ bṛhantaṃ mēghamaprāpya madhyē vinaṣṭō bhavati, tathaiva kaccinna naśyati . kathamubhayavibhraṣṭatā? apratiṣṭha:, vimūḍhō brahmaṇa: pathīti . yathāvasthitaṃ svargādisādhanabhūtaṃ karma phalābhisandhirahitasyāsya puruṣasya svaphalasādhanatvēna pratiṣṭhā na bhavatītyapratiṣṭha: . prakrāntē brahmaṇa: pathi vimūḍha: tasmātpatha: pracyuta: . ata: ubhayavibhraṣṭatayā kimayaṃ naśyatyēva, uta na naśyati? tamēnaṃ saṃśayamaśēṣataśchēttumarhāsi. svata: pratyakṣēṇa yugapatsarvaṃ sadā paśyatastvattōänya: saṃśayasyāsya chēttā na hyupapadyatē .37-38-39.

śrībhagavānuvāca

pārtha naivēha nāmutra vināśastasya vidyatē  .

na hi kalyāṇakṛtkaściddurgatiṃ tāta gacchati  . 40 .

śraddhayā yōgē prakrāntasya tasmātpracyutasyēha cāmutra ca vināśō na vidyatē prākṛtasvargādibhōgānubhavē brahmānubhavē cābhilaṣitānavāptirūpa: pratyavāyākhyāniṣṭāvāptirūpaśca vināśō na vidyata ityartha: . na hi niratiśayakalyāṇarūpayōgakṛtkaścitkālatrayēäpi durgatiṃ gacchati . 40 .

kathamayaṃ bhaviṣyatītyatrāha –

prāpya puṇyakṛtāṃ lōkānuṣitvā śāśvatī: samā:  .

śucīnāṃ śrīmatāṃ gēhē yōgabhraṣṭōäbhijāyatē  . 41 .

yajjātīyabhōgābhikāṅkṣayā yōgātpracyutōäyam, atipuṇyakṛtāṃ prāpyān lōkān prāpya tajjātīyānatikalyāṇān bhōgān yōgamāhātmyādēva bhuñjānō yāvattadbhōgatṛṣṇāvasānaṃ śaśvatī: samāstatrōṣitvā tasmin bhōgē vitṛṣṇa: śucīnāṃ śrīmatāṃ yōgōpakramayōgyānāṃ kulē yōgōpakramē bhraṣṭō yōgamāhātmyājjāyatē . 41 .

atha vā yōgināmēva kulē bhavati dhīmatām  .

ētaddhi durlabhataraṃ lōkē janma yadīdṛśam  . 42 .

paripakvayōgaścalitaścēt, yōgināṃ dhīmatāṃ yōgaṃ kurvatāṃ svayamēva yōgōpadēśakṣamāṇāṃ mahatāṃ kulē bhavati tadētadubhayavidhaṃ yōgayōgyānāṃ yōgināṃ ca kulē janma lōkē prākṛtānāṃ durlabhataram . ētattu yōgamāhātmyakṛtam .42.

tatra taṃ buddhisaṃyōgaṃ labhatē paurvadaihikam  .

yatatē ca tatō bhūya: saṃsiddhau kurunandana  . 43 .

pūrvābhyāsēna tēnaiva hriyatē hyavaśōäpi sa:  .

tatra janmani paurvadaihikaṃ tamēva yōgaviṣayaṃ buddhisaṃyōgaṃ labhatē . tata: suptaprabuddhavadbhūya: saṃsiddhau yatatē  yathā nāntarāyahatō bhavati, tathā yatatē . tēna pūrvābhyāsēna pūrvēṇa yōgaviṣyēṇābhyāsēna sa: yōgabhraṣṭō hyavaśōäpi yōga ēva hriyatē . prasiddhaṃ hyētadyōgamāhātmyamityartha: . 43 .

jijñāsurapi yōgasya śabdabrahmātivartatē  . 44 .

apravṛttayōgō yōgē jijñāsurapi tataścalitamānasa: punarapi tāmēva jijñāsāṃ prāpya karmayōgādikaṃ yōgamanuṣṭhāya śabdabrahmātivartatē . śabdabrahma dēvamanuṣyapṛthivyantarikṣasvargādiśabdābhilāpayōgyaṃ brahma prakṛti: . prakṛtibandhādvimuktō dēvamanuṣyādiśabdābhilāpānarhaṃ jñānānandaikatānamātmānaṃ prāpnōtītyartha:.44.

prayatnādyatamānastu yōgī saṃśuddhakilbiṣa:  .

anēkajanmasaṃsiddhastatō yāti parāṃ gatim  . 45 .

yata ēvaṃ yōgamāhātmyam, tata: anēkajanmārjitapuṇyasañcayai: saṃśuddhakilbiṣassaṃsiddhi: saṃjāta: prayatnādyatamānastu yōgī calitōäpi puna: parāṃ gatiṃ yātyēva . 45 .

atiśayitapuruṣārthaniṣṭhatayā yōgina: sarvasmādādhikyamāha –

tapasvibhyōädhikō yōgī jñānibhyōäpi matōädhika: .

karmibhyaścādhikō yōgī tasmādyōgī bhavārjuna      .46.

kēvalatapōbhirya: puruṣārtha: sādhyatē, ātmajñānavyatiriktairjñānaiśca ya:, yaśca kēvalairaśvamēdhādibhi: karmabhi:, tēbhyassarvēbhyōädhikapuruṣārthasādhanatvādyōgasya, tapasvibhyō jñānibhya: karmibhyaścādhikō yōgī tasmādyōgī bhavārjuna.46.

tadēvaṃ paravidyāṅgabhūtaṃ prajāpativākyōditaṃ pratyagātmadarśanamuktam atha paravidyāṃ prastauti –

yōgināmapi sarvēṣāṃ madgatēnāntarātmanā  .

śraddhāvān bhajatē yō māṃ sa mē yuktatamō mata:     . 47 .

yōgināmiti pañcamyarthē ṣaṣṭhī . sarvabhūtasthamātmānam (29) ityādinā caturvidhā yōgina: pratipāditā:. tēṣvanantargatatvādvakṣyamāṇasya yōgina: na nirdhāraṇē ṣaṣṭhī saṃbhavati . api sarvēṣāmiti sarvaśabdanirdiṣṭāstapasviprabhṛtaya: . tatrāpyuktēna nyāyēna pañcamyarthō grahītavya: . yōgibhya:, api sarvēbhyō vakṣyamāṇō yōgī yuktatama: . tadapēkṣayā avaratvē tapasviprabhṛtīnāṃ yōgināṃ ca na kaścidviśēṣa ityartha: mērvapēkṣayā sarṣapāṇāmiva . yadyapi sarṣapēṣu anyōnyanyūnādhikabhāvō vidyatē  tathāpi mērvapēkṣayā avaratvanirdēśa: samāna: . matpriyatvātirēkēna ananyadhāraṇasvabhāvatayā madgatēna antarātmanā manasā, śraddhāvānatyarthamatpriyatvēna kṣaṇamātraviślēṣāsahatayā matprāptipravṛttau tvarāvān yō māṃ bhajatē māṃ vicitrānantabhōgyabhōktṛvargabhōgōpakaraṇabhōgasthānaparipūrṇanikhilajagadudayavibhava-layalīlam, aspṛṣṭāśēṣa-dōṣānavadhikātiśayajñānabalaiśvaryavīryaśaktitēja:prabhṛti asaṅkhyēyakalyāṇa-guṇagaṇanidhim, svābhimatānurūpaikarūpācintyadivyādbhutanityaniravadya-niratiśayāujjvalya-saundaryasaugandhyasaukumāryalāvaṇya-yauvanādyanantaguṇanidhidivyarūpam, vāṅmanasāparicchēdyasvarūpa-svabhāvam, apārakāruṇyasauśīlya-vātsalyōdāryamahōdadhim, anālōcitaviśēṣāśēṣalōka-śaraṇyam, praṇatārtiharam, āśritavātsalyaikajaladhim, akhilamanujanayanaviṣayatāṃ gatam, ajahatsvasvabhāvam, vasudēvagṛhēävatīrṇam, anavadhikātiśayatējasā nikhilaṃ jagadbhāsayantam, ātmakāntyā viśvamāpyāyayantam, bhajatē sēvatē, upāsta ityartha:  sa mē yuktatamō mata:  sa sarvēbhyaśśrēṣṭatama: iti sarvaṃ sarvadā yathāvasthitaṃ svata ēva sākṣātkurvanahaṃ manyē.47.
